Más de 300 muertos por el sismo en Perú

LIMA.- Un poderoso sismo de magnitud 7,9 que ayer estremeció gran parte del Perú provocó 337 muertos y más de 1500 heridos.
La cifra fue dada a conocer por Defensa Civil, que también indicó que la provincia más afectada es la de Ica, al sur de Lima.
El violento terremoto y las varias réplicas que sacudieron ayer una amplia región de Perú, causaron un alerta de maremoto en todos los países costeros de la región: Panamá, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, México y Honduras, Colombia, Chile y Ecuador.
Según señalaron las autoridades, la mayor parte de los daños ocurrió en la provincia de Cañete, en el sur de Lima, y en las provincias de Pisco y Chincha, en la región Ica, unos 303 kilómetros al sur de la capital peruana.

Damnificados con diabetes recibirán ayuda

En los próximos días, la Asociación de Esposas de Funcionarios Diplomáticos del Perú iniciará una nueva campaña (la primera fue en agosto) de ayuda a los damnificados del terremoto que son diabéticos.

Esta actividad permitirá evaluar y tratar la diabetes, además de curar heridas y entregar insulina a nuevos pacientes. Los que ya están registrados reciben tratamiento.

CANTON, Mass. - A Massachusetts prosecutor has ordered an inquest into Amy Bishop's 1986 fatal shooting of her brother, saying there are new questions about whether it was the accident investigators concluded at the time. The handling of the case has been under renewed scrutiny since Bishop was accused of killing three faculty colleagues in a shooting Feb. 12 at the University of Alabama-Huntsville. In announcing the inquest Thursday, Norfolk District Attorney William Keating revealed that investigators recently examined a photo taken of Bishop's bedroom after her brother's death and enlarged it. They found a newspaper article that described someone killing a relative with a shotgun and stealing a getaway car from a car dealership.
